Grape Varieties: 90% Sangiovese Grosso and 10% indigenous varietals from the zone.
Region: The area of Poggio La Mozza in Tuscany
Production: Harvest took place over two periods depending on the varietal. Fermentation was over 20 days with the must being pumped over the skins twice a day. 75% of the wine was placed in French barrique and the remainder was placed in large Slovenian oak for a minimum one year. The wine was bottle aged for six months before release.
Characteristics: The colour is an intense cherry red with granite flecks. The nose is fruity with a hint of spice. The palate is full bodied and persistent showing flavours of prunes and plums. It finishes with rounded tannins and elegance. A wine that is enjoyable now but will only improve with more time in the bottle.
Serve: 18°C
Try it with: Tasty meats and full flavoured dishes.
