1999 Lenton Brae Estate Margaret River Cabernets

The 1999 vintage in Margaret River was considered to be their best to date. Made from a blend of 59% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot and 6% Petit Verdot. Very deep crimson colour, with deep crimson hue. Superb nose of blackcurrant, spice, cedar and truffle, displaying very strong varietal character followed by liquorice end notes. The palate displays classic Bordeaux like structure and flavour, which is hardly surprising given the year and the blend. Very pronounced flavours of spice, liquorice, blackcurrant, cedar and cigar box. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance, followed by a very long aftertaste of blackcurrant, cedar and liquorice. An outstanding wine.
