Winemaker, Bill Moularadellis has just released three very interesting red which are an absolute must for wine and food society wimemasters, as well as anyone else who is trying to define the characteristics of Petit Verdot, Malbec or Durif. The Petit Verdot and Durif come from the families Kingston on Murray property, whereas the Malbec comes from Alpine Victoria.Petit Verdot is a component of the great wines of Bordeaux and as a late ripener is very useful in those very hot years where the early ripeners are beginning to loose acidity and tannin. There are not many opportunities available to taste straight Petit Verdot, and this is sufficient reason in itself to buy the odd bottle. This is a very well made wine and more than just a tasting curiosity. Deep crimson mauve colour. Exotic aroma with very strong notes of spice, cloves, violets and rosepetals. The palate is mouthfilling, with distinct flavours of cloves, mixed spices and berries with a strong spicy blackpepper back palate and just a hint of earthiness. The wine displays excellent depth and concentration of flavour, fine tannin structure with a very dry grip that lingers. Cellar 3-4 years.
