Founded in 1967, Glenallachie is presently owned by Chivas Brothers, itself part of Pernod-Ricard. It was the last construction project of famed distillery architect, William Delme-Evans, who also completed the Jura and Tullibardine distilleries. Reportedly, he was such a control freak that he even marked the light bulbs with their installation date to monitor how long they would last.

The distillery draws its water from spring fed and snow water fed streams on Ben Rinnes. It employs unpeated malt from independent maltsters. Glenallachie produces a 16 year old cask-strength bottling and an 18 year old bottling, however, it is mainly used in the Chivas Brothers Clan Campbell blend, and also in the famous White Heather blend. Maturation takes place primarily in American oak, with the house style tending towards sweet, grassy, estery characteristics. Rarely seen, this Gordon & MacPhail bottling is one for whisky completionists to boast about!
