1999 Evans & Tate Margaret River Merlot

Opaque crimson colour with purple mauve hue. The nose is impressive, with aroma of spice, mulberry and vanilla followed by a violet end note. The palate is leaner and drier than the nose suggests, with distinct stewed fruit flavours followed by a spice, blackpepper and chocolate back palate flavour. The tannin structure is firm and dry, leaving quite an austere impression of the flavour profile. Lingering dry stewed fruit aftertaste.
