1999 Elderton Shiraz

Elderton Shiraz continues to be produced in the classic full bodied, Barossa style. Made from 40 year old vines, the wine has spent 12-18 months in French and American oak. Deep crimson colour with brick red edges. The nose is as expected from an Elderton Shiraz, intense with aroma of vanilla, plums, stewed fruit, chocolate and spice followed by a hint of prune. The palate flavours are a touch lighter than the nose might indicate. A liquorice and tar back palate enhances flavours of chocolate, vanilla, spice and plum. Fine grained velvet smooth tannins followed by an aftertaste of spice, vanilla and black pepper. Cellar 3-4 years.
