1999 De Bortoli Yarra Valley Chardonnay

An outstanding Yarra Valley Chardonnay, already awarded 1 trophy and 4 Gold Medals. Complexity as been achieved by allowing a part of the ferment to run on wild yeast strains, whilst extended storage on lees has given the wine additional layers of depth. Bright straw colour with a faint hint of green. Superb complex nose, layers of aromas - Classic barrel ferment character. Aroma of biscuit, smoked almonds, toasted oak, yeast lees, cashews, butterscotch and even a hint of smoked bacon as an end note. The palate does not disappoint - mouthfilling and complex, again layers of hazelnut, cashews, almonds, yeast lees, biscuit and grapefruit. Crisp acid finish followed by exceptionally long aftertaste. Cellar 3-4 years.
