1999 Cleveland Estate Heathcote Shiraz

If you like big tannins, then this is your wine! Totally opaque, bright purple, crimson colour. Aroma of liquorice allsorts and toasted oak which are overridden by a very pronounced marzipan end note. The palate is mouthfilling, huge fruit flavours of blackberries and plum, but as soon as they appear, they are almost just as quickly overtaken by the monumental tannin structure, which covers every thing else, leaving the wine very unbalanced, which is further compounded by the hot spicy back palate. This could be another Dominque Portet style wine, which you have to wait 20 plus years for it to soften. Cellar 10-20 years.
