Chateau Villars is one of the leading properties in the rather neglected Fronsac Appellation. The vineyard consists of 28 hectares of South West facing vineyards. Traditional Bordeaux wine making techniques are used, with a percentage of new oak, and where it is possible, no filtration is carried out.

Brilliant deep mauve crimson colour. The nose is very impressive, with aroma of blackcurrant, liquorice, spice and truffle. The palate continues to impress, perhaps because it's so Australian in its structure with its 13% alcohol, which is on the high side for Bordeaux, 12.5% being more common. Flavours of blackcurrant, liquorice and cedar over a spicy background. Excellent length. Long, blackcurrant aftertaste.
Cellar 3 - 4 years (2004 - 2005)
