The botrytis affected wines of Sauternes and Barsac are amongst the world’s greatest examples of sweet wine. The grape varieties used are Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, and in many cases it is all three grape varieties that are use to create these great wines.
This shipment is entirely in half bottles, with several years bottle age already. The wines are remarkably versatile – being suitable for dishes such as pan fried trout, duck, fois gras, blue cheese and of course deserts such as crème caramel, fruit pies, fruit stews and fruit salads. Soft fruit such as ripe peaches, pear, apricots, nectarines and berries. Sauternes does not go with chocolate, so whatever you do not attempt that match at your next dinner party!Brilliant gold colour with gold hue. Classic Sauternes nose – dried apricot, honey and spice, followed by a honeycomb end note. Rich luscious mouthfeel. Explosive flavours of honey, spice and honeycomb. Clean finish. Very long aftertaste of honey, spice and dried apricot.
