The botrytis affected wines of Sauternes and Barsac are amongst the world’s greatest examples of sweet wine. The grape varieties used are Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Muscadelle, and in many cases it is all three grape varieties that are use to create these great wines.

This shipment is entirely in half bottles, with several years bottle age already. The wines are remarkably versatile – being suitable for dishes such as pan fried trout, duck, fois gras, blue cheese and of course deserts such as crème caramel, fruit pies, fruit stews and fruit salads. Soft fruit such as ripe peaches, pear, apricots, nectarines and berries. Sauternes does not go with chocolate, so whatever you do not attempt that match at your next dinner party!

The 1999 Chateau Doisy Daene is a 2er Cru Sauternes. Grown on a 14ha vineyard the wine is made from 100% Semillon. The wine was vinified in stainless steel tanks and aged for one year in oak.

Brilliant deep gold colour. Aroma of honeycomb, spice and apricot. Rich, luscious mouthfeel. Flavours of raisins and dried apricots, with melon and ripe cantaloupe. Clean acid finish. Very long honey and ripe cantaloupe aftertaste.
