An outstanding E&E. Made from 60 year old vines, grown in the North East of the Barossa, and matured for 18 months in French and American oak. The hallmark of a great wine is consistency of quality over vintages, and the 1999 E&E Black Pepper Shiraz certainly delivers this. Opaque black crimson colour, with very deep crimson hue. Superb aroma of vanilla, liquorice, toasted oak, blackpepper and spice, finishing with an earthy end note. The palate flavours are intense, and show the sort of concentration that ripe Barossa Shiraz wines can deliver. Layers of liquorice, spice and blackpepper are overlaid by vanilla, liquorice, plum and chocolate. Outstanding depth and concentration, perfect balance, followed by a very long aftertaste of blackpepper, plum and liquorice. Stocks are limited.
