1999 Ashwood Grove Chardonnay

Swan Hill, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
$9. 99
Bottle
$119.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

A consistently well made commercial chardonnay. Deep straw, pale brassy gold colour. Barrel fermented aroma of yeast lees, butterscotch, melon, fig and vanilla. The fruit that was used for this wine was picked mid and late harvest, thus introducing some added complexity. Grapefruit, citrus palate flavours are dominant, leaving the butterscotch flavours in the background. Creamy texture. Citrus, butterscotch aftertaste. Well made, straightforward, early drinking style. Cellar 2 - 3 years.

Retasted: April 2001
A decorated wine, having been awarded 1 gold and 1 trophy plus a bronze medal at Australian wine shows.
Bright, pale gold colour, showing some oxidative handling. Aroma of melon, peach, spice and tropical fruits. The palate has good weight with flavours of melon and butterscotch followed by spice and vanilla with citrus back palate flavours. Good balance, with a crisp acid finish. Followed by melon, spice and peach aftertaste. Cellar 1-2 years.
