1998 Yalumba Galway Hermitage Shiraz

Every 3-4 years Yalumba produces a Galway Hermitage that is exceptional from both the wine making aspect and value for money. The 1998 is a welcome relief for wine lovers, like a summer breeze after a heat wave of escalating wine prices. For some wine lovers it was almost back to the wine cask in order to display some budgetary restraints, but now all that is unnecessary. Even better news for young start up wine lovers is that this wine will continue to develop over the next 3-5 years making it a welcome buff against the WET (Wine Equalisation Tax) and the G.S.T. Magnificent youthful crimson purple colour, just vibrant with vigour. Lifted aromas of spicy ink, blackpepper nose. Full flavoured, rich ripe fruit. Mouthfilling with flavours of ripe plums, spice and just a hint of liquorice. Fine grained tannins, soft, with long plum, spice aftertaste. Outstanding value. Cellar 3-5 years.
