This is the wine that lives in the land of 'me too'. There is technically nothing wrong with this wine, its been made with care and incorporates barrel fermentation techniques. It has the smell and taste of a barrel fermented Chardonnay, so what more could you ask for? Regional definition! Sue Hodder's reds are distinctly Coonawarra, and they also have a style and structure that takes them above being technically correct red wines, whereas, the Chardonnay lives in the land of technical correctness, from which it ought to escape and become regionally eccentric. Taste the wine and make up your own mind!Deep straw colour with green tinge. The nose displays pronounced barrel ferment aroma with strong yeast lees, butterscotch, melon, spice and toasted oak. Mouthfilling palate with flavours of grapefruit, butterscotch and yeast lees - full bodied clean finish with aftertaste of toasted almond, spice, cinnamon and butterscotch. Cellar 3-4 years.
