Chilean Reds remain remarkably good value for money, in spite of upward price pressures. The wine displays a very distinct French winemaking influence and whilst only medium bodied (it might even be regarded as a light weight, by current Australian standards), the wine offers excellent flavour and aftertaste. 20% of the wine has been aged in American and French oak. Medium bodied, brick red, crimson colour. Bordeaux like nose, with aromas of cedar and blackcurrant over an earthy background. The palate whilst restrained by Australian standards delivers the classic Bordeaux palate structure and flavours. Slightly drier than Australian Cabernets with good length and aftertaste and dominated by cedar, blackcurrant and spice. Long lingering aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.
