Notes sourced from Southern Cross Wines.

1998 was a phenomenal year for red wine throughout Australia. Selected quality fruit from South Australia has been used for this wine, where over 50% came from the cool climate regions of Coonawarra and Padthaway, with the remainder from the Barossa Valley and the Riverland. The fruit was picked at full flavour and sugar ripeness in March and April 1998.The wine was mainly fermented in stainless steel tanks with a percentage of the Wine fermented in mature French oak hogsheads. The wine had up to 12 months of oak maturation prior to bottling. On the nose there are varietal berry aromas of cassis and blackcurrant, with some interesting green leaf characters and a hint of toasty oak, while on the palate the wine is medium to full-bodied showing sweet fruit and balanced tannin. This is a beautifully balanced and very drinkable example of well-made commercial Australian Cabernet Sauvignon. Cellar for up to 5 years. 13.6% alcohol volume.

Tasted January 2000

A well made, very affordable wine. Deep crimson colour with mauve edges. Lifted spice, liquorice and blackcurrant nose. Generous palate with flavour of ripe plum, ripe stewed fruits and liquorice. Good length, fine grained tannins, followed by long spice, plum, liquorice and stewed fruit after taste. Cellar 3-4 years.
