1998 Salena Estate Shiraz

You’ll be forgiven if you’ve never heard of Salena Estate - we hadn’teither until some samples showed up and we were impressed.  Value formoney, the Loxton area of South Australia could give the Barossa Valleya bit of a shake up.Medium body, crimson colour.  Lifted nose of liquorice, ripe plum,vanilla and blackberry.  The palate is filled with the flavours of veryripe fruit, the kind Peter Lehmann has been delivering for years.Flavours of stewed fruits, plum, vanilla and a touch of liquorice on theback palate with just a trace of tar at the very end.  Fine grained softtannins with an aftertaste of tar, prune, liquorice and plum.  Awardedthree Bronze medals to date.  Cellar 1-2 years.
