The White Cypress label is the budget end of John Reynolds winemaking. The fruit being sourced from anywhere in South East Australia.Bright brassy gold colour, showing signs of earthy bottle development. Truffled nose with ripe peach, melon and tropical fruit aromas, followed by a hint of peach, spice and butterscotch. The palate is heavy, almost awkward. A clumsy combination of flavours - butterscotch, citrus, cinnamon oak and a touch of confectionary, which might sound to be compatible but in fact clash badly. The great promise of the nose is simply not delivered on the palate, but then at this price, it's almost as good as it gets.
