1998 Ralph Fowler Limestone Coast Shiraz

This wine has Ralph Fowlers winemaking signature firmly embedded into its structure and flavour. Ralph is one of Australia's top winemakers, and having recently left Leconfield to establish his own label, his new wines have been greeted with much acclaim. This is an outstanding wine and one with at least a decade of cellaring potential. Produced from low yielding vines from Coonawarra and Mount Benson, the wine has been aged for 15 months in French oak. Magnificent purple crimson colour, almost opaque. The nose has the Fowler stamp all over it with Rhone like earthy notes integrated with blackberry, spice, plum and violets. Excellent oak integration, mouthfilling palate flavour with blackberry, plum and spice supported by fine grained dry tannins. Very long blackpepper, plum, earth aftertaste. Stocks are limited. A must!
