1998 Penfolds The Valleys Chardonnay

Bright straw colour with slightly green film, already showing signs of some early bottle development. Subtle aromas of melon, grapefruit, toasted oak and yeast lees. On the palate the texture is creamy, the flavours subtle and beginning to flatten out. Melon, butterscotch dominant, soft acidity, with melon, tropical fruit, honey and spice aftertaste. Cellar 1-2 years.

Retasted
A well made Chardonnay. Bright straw colour. Aromas of nut, delicate yeast lees, butterscotch, melon and peach. Creamy palate texture with flavours of peach, melon, citrus, subtle oak and yeast lees. Soft acid finish, finishing with aftertaste of peach, tropical fruits, nut and yeast lees. Cellar 3-4 years.
