Every few years, along comes a great Koonunga Hill - a wine that is both affordable and capable of cellaring for 4-5 years, it becomes a kind of drinkers financial life line, particularly given the recent price rises of red wines. Wine maker Peter Gago is very excited about this wine saying it's the best vintage in recent memory, and we don't disagree. Very deep crimson colour. Excellent nose of liquorice, spice, plum and blackcurrant, with a distinct Cabernet end note - an impressive sniff. The palate has weight, flavour and excellent structure. Ripe fruit, spicy black pepper and plum palate, very good mouthfeel with plum, blackcurrant and spice persisting through the entire length and aftertaste. Fine grained soft tannins, perfect balance with long plum, liquorice, chocolate and vanilla spice aftertaste. Cellar 4-5 years. Outstanding value for money. Only available at this price for a limited time - be quick!
