The drought conditions persisted throughout the Barossa Valley during the 1998 vintage and as a result very rich, concentrated wines were produced. Made from a blend of 76% semillon and 24% chardonnay with one third of the blend barrel fermented in new, one and two year old French oak casks and a further portion receiving French and American oak maturation. Bright straw colour with a green tinge. Uplifted aromas of green tea with grassy, herbaceous background notes. The palate has good weight with grassy, toasted oak palate flavours which are very persistent. Clean crisp acidity with long citrus, toasted oak aftertaste. Cellar 3-4 years. An excellent example of the blend with length and persistence. Winner of one trophy and two gold medals.
