Winemaker Michael Zizlaff has sourced his Chardonnay grapes from two distinct areas within the Yarra Valley. Part of the blend comes from the rich red soils of the Southern part of the Valley, whilst the other component is sourced from the leaner grey loams from around Yarra Glen. Bright pale straw colour with a green film. Excellent nose with subtle oak, yet pronounced peach, melon and tropical fruit aromas with some underlying butterscotch. The palate is a touch leaner than the nose would suggest, but it is followed by delightful grapefruit, vanilla spice palate flavours. Very good length and persistence. Clean finish, followed by a long vanilla, spice, butterscotch and melon aftertaste. Cellar 2-3 years.
