1998 Nicholson River Semillon

The wines from Nicholson River are very individual, and as left field as can be produced. The 1998 Semillon is from a drought year and has been fermented and matured in new French oak. The closest resemblance it bears to any other wine is the Chateau d'Yquem dry wine - Ygrec which is only made in poor Sauternes years.The wine is brilliantly deep in colour and has a slight green tinge. The nose is superb and has a very distinct hint of botrytis. Aromas of citrus, honey and apricot fill the nose and are reflected onto a complex, full flavoured palate. Mouthfilling with great intensity and persistence, quite dry, perfect balance and long honey apricot aftertaste. Cellar 4-5 years. Stocks are extremely limited.
