1998 Kumeu River Pinot Noir

The weight and colour are a little disappointing. Medium weight with brick red crimson colour. The aroma spectrum is predictable with cherry, spice, some toasted oak and a hint of game in the background. The palate flavours are light with strawberry and spice flavours present which drops off leaving behind relatively firm tannins which are too assertive for the fruit to carry. Aftertaste of liquorice, cherry and spice. Cellar 3-4 years.
