A magnificent red. Totally opaque black crimson colour with dark crimson hue. Aroma of dark chocolate, spice and marzipan over a layer of blackcurrant and cedar. The palate flavours are mouthfilling with powerful spice, cedar, liquorice and blackcurrant flavours evident. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance, followed by a very long plum, confectionary, blackberry and spice aftertaste.

Koppamurra has been hot in the news for some time now, and the reason for their being much interest in this tiny town north of Coonawarra is that it has the same Terra Rossa soil (over a limestone base) as does Coonawarra, and so by some creative reckoning should not Koppamurra be a part of the Coonawarra?

This is a rare parcel of wine, in that firstly not much of it was made, and secondly the yields were a minuscule 1 tonne per acre, now that is really low. At this level of production the fruit flavours become very concentrated.

Totally opaque, purple, black colour. One could hardly expect greater density from any wine. The nose is delightful with aromas of marzipan, spice, cedar, blackcurrant and liquorice. The palate is pure concentrate of Cabernet. Superb mouthfilling flavours, with an intensely concentration rarely experienced. Pronounced flavours of blackcurrant, cedar, liquorice and plum, with confectionery flavours emerging on the back palate. Fine grained tannins, perfect balance with exceptionally long pepper, tobacco aftertaste.
Cellar 8-10 years.
