1998 Hamilton Hut Block Cabernet

We first tasted this wine in November last year, and although it got a very good review at the time it was passed over in preference for the 1998 Hamilton Shiraz. The wine has reappeared in our line up again and we’re even more impressed given the additional time it has spent in the bottle. Opaque crimson mauve colour. Very impressive nose with aromas of blackcurrant, cedar, plum and spice. Excellent palate weight and flavour, with again lots of ripe blackcurrant flavours perfectly married to earth, spice and blackberry. Excellent length and persistence, fine grained well balanced tannins and very long aftertaste. It was certainly great value in November 1999, it’s outstanding value today. Cellar 5-8 years.
