1998 Grant Burge Hillcot Merlot

Grant Burge has made a full bodied 'serious' Merlot that will improve with 5-6 years cellaring. 10% Cabernet has been added to the Merlot, in order to add complexity to the wine and improve its tannin structure. Opaque crimson mauve colour. The nose displays earthy truffle, cedar, mulberry and blackcurrant aromas. On the palate excellent length and persistence with flavour of earth, truffle, spice, cedar and mulberry. Fine grained tannins, elegant, sophisticated style, followed by truffle, cedar and spice aftertaste.
