A very impressive red. Opaque crimson mauve colour with black centre. Superb nose – a sniffing pleasure, with aromas of charred oak, violets, blackcurrants, mulberry and cedar, a complex nose that is almost perfumed in its aromatics. The palate flavours reflect the nose and complexity, which is attributable to the blend and age of the vines. Full bodied palate, with a tighter structure than is usually found in Barossa Reds, but delivers a wonderful, complex flavour profile. The Shiraz component introduces a blackpepper element to the end of the palate and is enhanced by flavours of blackcurrant, mulberry and spice. The tannins are firm, and contribute to the general tight structure of the wine, but none the less, balanced to the generous ripe fruit. Long chocolate, plum, blackpepper and spice aftertaste. Cellar 5-8 years.
