1998 De Bortoli Melba Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

Made entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon and matured for 22 months in new French oak. Medium body, crimson brick red colour, showing some bottle developed character. Aroma of blackcurrant and cedar, followed by earth and leather end notes. On the palate, a degree of complexity is evident with layers of confectionary, cedar and spice emerging over a backpalate of blackcurrant and stewed fruit; the fruit is beginning to dry out with some tea leaf menacing the background. Aftertaste of liquorice, cedar, earth and spice.
