Notes sourced from Dalwhinnie.

The fruit for the Eagle Series has been sourced from the small 1.2 hectare cellar door vineyard planted in 1977. The hilly, well drained soils and south easterly aspect produces some of the most stylish and complex fruit in the country. The fruit character is unique in that it displays a very interesting olive oil and bramble fruit characteristic, which is fascinating. The vintage of the decade, the Eagle Series Shiraz 1998 has been made using traditional French Burgundy winemaking techniques, incorporating whole berry and whole bunch fermentation, extended skin contact and maximum lees contact. The wine is a super concentration of unique aromas and flavours only achieved using these non-conventional winemaking techniques. After two years in small French oak barriques the Eagle Series Shiraz has picked up many complex fine tannins, integrated with superb Dalwhinnie handpicked fruit.

Tasting Notes: Full dark purple-red colour. On the nose enticing, exotic, savoury and plum pudding aromas combine with fresh vanillin oak. The palate is an explosion of Shiraz concentration displaying very complex flavours and a great harmony of fruit and oak tannins. Optimum drinking 8 - 12 years.Only 210 dozen produced.
