1998 d'Arenberg Ironstone Pressings Grenache Shiraz Mourvedre

McLaren Vale, South Australia, AUSTRALIA
$54. 99
Bottle
$659.88 Dozen
Closure: Cork

Made from a blend of 70% Grenache, 20% Shiraz and 10% Mouvedre. This is another iron fisted red from this traditional McLaren Vale producer, but unlike the Dead Arm Shiraz, this wine shows much more gentle use of tannins. Opaque, crimson mauve purple colour. Aromas of raspberry, liquorice, spice and plum with a vanillin oak end note. Mouthfilling palate with spicy raspberry, vanilla and liquorice all sorts palate flavours with just a trace of earthiness. Generous rich, ripe fruit. Fine grained firmish tannins, well balanced, followed by a long raspberry, vanilla and spice aftertaste. Cellar 4-5 years. (2004-2005)
