Shiraz in a cool climate area can take an added peppery dimension which is not to be found in warm climate Shiraz.Medium body, crimson mauve colour. The nose displays an earthy cherry spice aroma with a white peppery end note. On the palate the pepper and blackcurrant flavours combine and override some subtle plum and stewed fruit flavours, but the acidity remains on the high side. The wine is tightly knit and needs 5-8 years to fully develop. An excellent example.

Retasted: June 2001
An elegant cool climate Shiraz, with distinct white pepper backbone. Medium body, crimson mauve colour, but compared with the Shiraz grown from Bendigo and Heathcote (which are not that far away) the wine is relatively light. Aromas of ripe plums, spice stewed fruits and white pepper are supported by an earthy end note. The palate is relatively short, with flavours of stewed plums and spice. Soft tannins followed by an earthy, white pepper aftertaste. Cellar 3-4 years.
