Garry Farr produced this wine from fruit sourced from many 'mates' in the Australian wine industry - the reason he had to do that was that a hail storm cut through the Bannockburn Vineyard and destroyed his crop, hence the South Eastern Australia appellation.

Other reviews... Hopefully, a never-to-be-repeated wine, made from grapes grown throughout Victoria and South Australia in the aftermath of hail devastation of the estate vineyards. Wonderfully aromatic and fragrant, with a seamless flow of cherry plum and spice through the bouquet and the supple palate. Impeccable.

...My favorite Bannockburn offering is the 1998 Shiraz. It lacks the heft that most Australian Shiraz provide, but this is a cooler climate wine with a deep ruby/purple color, olive-tinged, black currant flavors, some spice, and wood. It exhibits good sweetness on the attack and a medium-bodied, lightly tannic finish. Wine Advocate #135 (Jun 2001) Robert Parker
