Much of the 1998 Bannockburn crop was wiped out by hail and consequently a call was put out for help, with fruit being supplied in small parcels from a number of top producers around Australia. Friends of Bannockburn Pinot turned out to be; Blue Pyrenees, BRL Hardy, Cape Mentelle, Dalwhinnie, Hillstowe, Innisfail, Lusatia Park, Nepenthe, Petaluma, Pikes, Peter Davies, Prince Albert, Smithbrook, Tarrawarra and Yalumba. One bottle gets you an entire collection of the country's best Pinots.

Deep brick red colour, with aroma of cherry, spice and a hint of toasted oak with a liquorice end note. Excellent palate weight and mouthfeel with an impressive degree of power and just a trace of stalkiness. Flavours of cherry, liquorice and spice, fine grained soft tannins, with long aftertaste of cherry, strawberry, spice and liquorice. Cellar 3-5 years.
