Notes sourced from Southern Cross Wines.

The 1998 Andrew Garrett Chardonnay was produced from fruit sourced from two renowned Chardonnay growing regions of McLaren Vale and Padthaway in South Australia.Fruit was selected from vineyards known to produce grapes that would provide the ripe, full flavoured Chardonnay characters preferred by the wine maker. The McLaren Vale and Padthaway regions both have a reputation for producing full flavoured Chardonnay styles. Wine maker Phil Reschke's decision to blend wine from these two regions has produced a classic Australian Chardonnay - rich fruit characters balanced with elegant oak. After crushing, around 60% of the wine was fermented in the barrel prior to maturation in new and seasoned French and American oak hogsheads. All of the wine underwent malo-lactic fermentation and was aged on lees for six months before an earth filtration and bottling in January 1999.This is a rich and complex wine. Around 60% of the wine was barrel fermented, then aged in new French and American oak to allow a balanced integration of flavours. The bouquet offers tropical aromas with peach and melon supported by a touch of spicy oak. The palate is rich with a creamy texture displaying grapefruit and tropical flavours. Cellar up to 3 years. 13.6% alcohol volume.
