Tasting notes sourced from Southcorp Wines

Wynns Coonawarra Estate Shiraz has developed a reputation as consistently offering exceptional varietal and regional characteristics at an affordable price. The emphasis is on making a wine with distinctive cool-climate Coonawarra Shiraz fruit characters without the wine being dominated by oak. The wine was matured in a combination of new and used American and French oak for 10months.The 1996/97 Coonawarra growing season produced low-yielding Shiraz which concentrated the fruit's flavours. Deep, dark red colour with purple hues. On the nose there are plenty of ripe berry fruit aromas along with spice and blackpepper notes. The palate is very fruit driven displaying blackberry and mulberry flavours with hints of cedary oak, blackpepper and spice. Well balanced with fine grained tannin structure and long aftertaste. Drink now or cellar for 5-8 years. 13.4% Alcohol Volume.
