1997 Stanton & Killeen Rutherglen Durif

A big old fashioned Rutherglen red which has some dry vintage port overtones and very firm tannic grip.Opaque, brick red colour with crimson edges. On the nose there are aroma of vanilla, ripe plum and hint of tar followed by a liquorice end note. Generous mouthfeel, very ripe flavours of plum and stewed fruit with obvious tar liquorice aftertaste. The tannins are very firm and will give you a genuine Rutherglen smack in the mouth. Plum and stewed fruit aftertaste, followed by very long, very dry lingering tannins. Cellar 8-10 years.
