Paringa Estate is one of Australia's leading Pinot Noir producers. This is an exceptional Pinot Noir from a dream vintage. Wine maker Lindsay McCall is overjoyed with enthusiasm with the release of this wine and why shouldn't he be? This is Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir at its best.Deep crimson mauve colour. Quite remarkable for Pinot Noir and no doubt due to the extended skin contact. The nose is superb and carries the Classic Pinot aroma profile. Dark cherry, spice, liquorice, Troncais oak and game counter point. Superbly layered and can only build to even greater intensity with time. The palate is monumental by Pinot standards and has the weight of a cool climate shiraz, rather than Pinot Noir. The spice game flavours are enhanced by generous, concentrated and persistent flavours of cherry and strawberry, carefully balanced by new and one year French Troncais oak. Fine, yet firmish tannins, perfectly matched to the big fruit flavours with very long lingering cherry, liquorice and spice aftertaste. A very serious Pinot Noir and an absolute bargain by Burgundy standards!
