Tasting notes sourced from Dalwhinnie.

Shiraz is the natural grape variety for the Pyrenees climate and the success of Dalwhinnie shiraz is based upon the synergy between variety, soil and climate in the unique amphitheatre in which the vines are grown. The 1997 vintage was a challenging year with a hot dry growing season reducing yields by 30%. However, the trade off for reduced yields was the tiny berries which produced very concentrated wines with immense colour and structure.Vibrant shiny purple black colour. On the nose there are some aromas of bramble and red cherry with overtones of French and American oak. The palate is mouthfilling with blackberry and pepper characters followed by a very fine tannin structure. A very elegant wine.
