Tasting notes sourced from Dalwhinnie.

Dalwhinnie Moonambel Cabernet is indicative of the powerful Pyrenees style and is reknown for its deep purple colour, a voluminous bouquet and very long finish. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes fully ripen and when blended with small proportions of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, result in a wine of tremendous richness and balance. The 1997 vintage was a challenging year with a hot dry growing season reducing yields by 30%. However, the trade off for reduced yields was the tiny berries which produced very concentrated wines with immense colour and structure.Deep dark purple brick colour. The nose is delightful with aromas of cedar, herbs, chocolate, earth and a hint of mint. The palate displays excellent viscosity and concentration of fruit with a fine dry tannin structure. This is an enormous wine with great structure and complexity. Dalwhinnie rates this as one of their best cabernets to date. Cellar up to 20 years.
