The Chateau dates back to the 15th century. The site occupies a chalky clay hill a few kilometres North East of Saint Emilion. Production is relatively small, with only 9 hectares planted. The vineyard is planted to 67% Merlot and 33% Cabernet. The wine is matured for 18 months in oak barriques, of which 50% are new.Deep crimson colour with mauve edge. Classic Bordeaux nose with aroma of violets and blackcurrant to the fore, followed by a cedar end note. On the palate the blackcurrant flavours are dominant with subtle nuances of earth and a touch of aniseed. Good balance, fine grained firmish tannins with aftertaste of spice, cedar and blackcurrant. Cellar 4-5 years.
