Chateau Leamon was established by winemaker Ian Leamon's Dad, Phil, who produced some of the states thickest and inkiest reds. You could always pick Phil out in a crowd especially after vintage by his purple stained hands. Today the reds are not quite as opaque, however, they are none the less very impressive.Opaque crimson purple colour. The nose is very appealing with strong plum, vanilla, spice and confectionary aromas. The palate is generous with stewed fruit, plum, spice and confectionary up front flavours followed by a blackpepper end palate and just a hint of mint. Fine grained tannins, excellent balance and long mint, spice and blackberry aftertaste. Cellar 8-10 years.
