Chateau du Cros is situated on the opposite bank of the Garonne river to Sauternes. The line drawing of the Chateau which appears on the label, is an outline of the profile, of the now near derelict building. The Chateau was occupied by the Nazi’s during the Second World War, and they tore down the timber structure using it for firewood. Today, as you stand on top of the hill at Chateau du Cros, you can see the legendary Chateau d’Yquem, on the opposite bank. Michel Boyer maintains that in great years, Chateau du Cros can produce as good a wine as anyone from the other side of the river. One night at dinner, he opened a bottle of 1927 Chateau du Cros and compared next to a 1927 Chateau d’Yquem. He made his point!

Notes Sourced from Chateau Du Cros

With a fine colour of varyingly golden tints, the CHATEAU DU CROS sweet whites are rich in floral aromatic substance; fruity and nervy when young, and with extraordinarily complex bouquets when older : unctuous, racy and full-bodied.
Lay them down for a while and be amazed...
They should be served chilled but not too cold: 10°C.
Ideal with foie gras and very good as an aperitif, they can also go with refined fish dishes, white meat, Roquefort cheese, desserts that are not too sweet, or simply whenever you feel like it.
