1997 Best's Great Western Bin 0 Shiraz

The Best’s Bin 0 wines have a great capacity to live ‘almost for ever’,given the right cellaring conditions.  This is yet another outstandingexample from this top Victorian vineyard, and has a wonderful, intense,blackpepper quality.Opaque crimson mauve colour.  The aroma on the nose is very intense,dominated by plum, liquorice, spice, vanilla and stewed fruits, and sitson the edge of being perfumed.  Mouthfilling palate, the kind of flavourthat Viv Thompson consistently delivers.  Pepper, plum, spice, stewedfruits and vanilla flavours are layered over a very long peppery backpalate.  Velvet smooth, super fine tannins, followed by long peppery,spice, plum, stewed fruits and vanilla aftertaste.A must for the serious collector.  Cellar 15-20 years.
