Peter Cummings is building a solid reputation as Victoria's best value-for-money producer. His 1996 Shiraz (Sold Out) was outstanding, and his new release Cabernet follows the full-bodied fruit driven style that has made Waterwheel reds so eagerly sought after.Deep crimson, brick red colour. The nose displays pronounced uplifted aromas of cherries, mixed herbs, blackcurrants and just a hint of marzipan. The palate is filled with rich ripe Cabernet fruits dominated by flavours of ripe plum, chocolate, liquorice and spice, with liquorice allsorts on the back palate. Fine yet firmish tannins in balance with the ripe fruit, with long cherry spice and plum flavours lingering on the aftertaste. Cellar 3 - 5 years. Need we say it - stocks are limited, and at this price, the wine won't be around too long.
