1996 Sansibar Panama 20 Year Old Cask Strength Rum (700ml)

Tasting notes: Distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2016. Impresses from the outset with its spectacular burnt orange / sienna / gold ochre colour. A creme-de-rum on the nose opening with fruit'n'nut chocolate, banana cake, dried mango; Sweetens further after brief air contact evolving to luxurious aromas of sticky date pudding, maple syrup and cedar wood. Entry is mildly caney, grassy becoming sweeter through the middle stages; Finish delivers a flood of muscat-like sugars followed by mocha, caramel nib, vanilla and banana peel. Excellent sweet/dry balance. Powers on at great length. Superb. 51% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered and natural colour. 269 bottles.
