The Penfolds Bin 128 is only one of the two reds which are in the Penfolds stable which is not multi regional - the other being Clare Estate. Historically, the most famous of the multi regional blends was a red called Lindemans Nyrang Hermitage. This wine caused considerable debate amongst the purists in the 1960's and 1970's - Lindemans persistantly arguing that the whole was better than the parts - and so it is today.Opaque crimson purple colour. This is a big Bin 128 and one of the best in recent times. Lifted nose of spice, blackberries, cedar and toasted oak, with a plum end note. Mouthfilling palate - with spicy blackpepper plum flavour dominant and finishing with a strong blackpepper back palate. Fine grained, firmish tannins, in balance, followed by plum, liquorice, toasted oak and cedar aftertaste. Cellar 5-8 years.
