1996 Nicholson River Pinot Noir

Ken Eckersley's wines are very individual and a pleasure to taste, particularly in light of the 'sameness' of many of the wines being made today. Deep brick red colour. Pronounced, gamey/earth spice nose followed by strong strawberry spice notes and a hint of stalkiness in the background. The aromas are well counter pointed and provide for some classic Pinot sniffing. The palate displays considerable power, with concentrated game/fruit flavour. Good length with soft tannins, followed by relatively high acid finish. A wine that should fully integrate in about 5 years.
